چکیده

Abstract A new subgenus, Reinertia Somboon, Namgay & Harbach, of the genus Aedes Meigen and its type species, Ae. suffusus Edwards, are described from specimens reared larvae pupae found in a tree hole Bhutan. The scutum adults is mostly covered with narrow pale falcate scales. proboscis, maxillary palpus, tibiae, tarsi dark-scaled. gonocoxite male genitalia bears unique setose basomesal sclerite. larva closely resembles subgenus Downsiomyia Vargus having setae 4–6-C numerous branches inserted more or less on level seta 7-C, abdominal 12-I present comb composed 6–10 spine-like scales arranged an irregular row. Surprisingly, shares features adult habitus, genitalia, Palearctic Dahliana Reinert, Harbach Kitching. However, phylogenetic analyses mitochondrial COI gene species representing 38 subgenera six other genera tribe Aedini Neveu-Lemaire, was not associated Downsiomyia. In both maximum likelihood Bayesian data, recovered as weakly supported sister clade five Protomacleaya Theobald. absence strong support, because unnatural group that resemble each phenetically by virtue what they lack, cannot be placed Protomacleaya. Thus, morphological molecular data attest uniqueness recognition monobasic subgeneric lineage.

The polytene chromosomes of three North American species in the subgenus Chaetolabis of the genus Chironomus are described and compared to the published karyotypes of two Palearctic species. Chironomus (Chaetolabis) atroviridis has four polytene chromosomes, like the Palearctic C. globulus, while C. ochreatus and the North American populations of C. bitumineus each have three chromosomes due to...
